about me

Behind the Whisk:

Hello! I’m Anisha, a 23 year-old accountant in DTLA with a passion for pastry and social media. I’m an output of the San Gabriel Valley with roots in New Delhi, India. Like most pastry-aficionados, my first experiences in the kitchen involved sitting on a counter watching my mum and nani (g’ma) cooking and baking. Decades ago, in India, it was very rare to find my nani’s generation taking intensive pastry courses, but she did. Plus, my dad’s side of the family is known for feeding and being well-fed ;)

Accounting + Baking = the Perfect Recipe

I like to think that everything I do is intertwined. Like accounting, good baking requires precision: weighing out ingredients by the kg, proper techniques, and surprisingly, ethics. I won’t re-post other recipes w/o giving full credit or mentioning adaptations. Credit should be given when deserved; blogging, like hard work, should be a meritocracy. Plus, there’s something eerily peaceful about kneading dough and beating the heck out of egg whites. After a long day of staring at my computer screen and fiddling with a 10-key, baking is my therapy.

Current Obsessions:

  • bread pudding
  • monkey bread
  • meringues
